Lobos Island (Isla de Lobos in ESP) is located 15 min boat ride from the city of Corralejo. It is the perfect place for everyone: locals and tourists. You can snorkel, surf, dive, hike the trails of the volcano, do kayaking, or just relax on the beach and get some tan.
Means of transport:
The cheapest option to go is either a water taxi or a ferry, they both cost 15€. Personally, I would recommend the water taxi for the adventurous ones, who want to ride waves, enjoy the wind, and have a unique experience. If you have kids, or you get sick while traveling, just take the ferry, which is bigger, it has actual seats and it is more comfortable to travel on.
Celia Cruz offers boats in every hour, and the returning times are also flexible. One of the ferries even has a glass bottom (the same price, you just have to ask in advance which times is the glass bottom boat going).
What to do on the island:
Once you are on the island, Puertito de Lobos is on the right side, and Playa de la Concha is to the left. You find signs everywhere, so it is hard to get lost. There is a small restaurant, they only work with reservations, so if you have intentions to have lunch there, you would need to book the table in advance. If not, make sure you bring snacks and water, because you won’t find them on the island. My all-time trick is to leave a big bottle of water in the freezer overnight, and the next day I take the ice, and when I arrive the ice melts and the water is still cold.
Excursions:
There are some 4-hour excursions on the island with guides if you are willing to pay a little extra for the extra service. Lobos explorer is an excursion, guided by a local fisherman, it gives you equipment to try kayaking, snorkeling, and paddle surfing, later on, you get to taste Canarian food.
Fuertecharter has catamaran tours around Lobos including biking on an e-bike (fastest way to explore the island)
+ Alternative options:
If you are not interested to embark on the island, you just want to have a fun day, there are several options for you: catamaran tours, glass-bottom boats, 3 island cruise, jet ski, snorkeling experiences. To book your trip, you can check the options online, or ones you are here, inquire about information at the harbor in Corralejo.
